Pleated Shades: Troubleshooting

Pleated shades are shipped in their package in the fully raised position with the cord locked. This prevents the shades from spilling out of the package when you open it and makes for easier installation. If the shades will not lower after installation, hold the cord parallel to the headrail of the shades and gently tug to the left until the cord lock is able to free itself. Do not yank or jerk on the cord. This may cause the lock to jam further and result in damage and the need for repair. Pleated shade repairs are rare and a gentle approach is usually what will free the cordlock in the long run. Should the shades hang unevenly, try raising them completely then lowering the shades until they are even.
