Wooden Blinds: The Definition of Quality and Value

Real wood blinds are crafted of ramin or basswood. The much preferred basswood is a stable hardwood that will not bend or warp and is coated with a sealant that blocks UV rays. Wooden blinds can be found with 1- 2 ½ inch slats and thanks to their inability to absorb certain energies, unlike aluminum blinds, they are natural insulators against heat and cold. The blinds are raised with a cord; its slats tilt open and shut by turning a rod. Available in a number of finishes, wood blinds are also widely available in stock sizes and can be special ordered for off-size or odd shaped windows.
