One of the most common mistakes made by homeowners when measuring for blinds is an inaccurate measurement. Measuring blinds can be simple if you know how to correctly measure your window. When measuring blinds, carefully write the measurements for each window and make sure you clearly indicate which is the width and which is the height. You should list the width first then the height; these measurements can be easily transposed, which will result in blinds that do not fit your window. Be sure to measure the width at the top, middle and bottom of the window and use the smallest measurement. For height, measure the left, middle and right and use the largest measurement. Also, to ensure accuracy in your measurements, always measure to the nearest 1/8-inch; don't round your measurements.
